In the face of some challenging circumstances in 2023, the Nebraska livestock industry was still able to grow according to the head of the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (AFAN).
In a year-end interview with the Rural Radio Network, Steve Martin, the Executive Director of AFAN, shed light on the developments that defined the past year. Throughout 2023, their efforts focused on various fronts, with expansions evident in the poultry, beef, swine, and dairy sectors.
Key highlights:
➡ A new egg production facility is being built in Banner County, targeting the Colorado market
➡ Swine expansion including both replacing older facilities and constructing new finishing barns
➡ AFAN working with county officials on zoning issues and helps educate them and neighbors about livestock operations.
