The Bahm family farm has been operating in southwest North Dakota since the turn of the 20th century, with several generations carrying on this proud tradition. Jim and Labeth Bahm picked up the torch in 1998 and have worked hard to further the operation. Last year, a new challenge was placed before them when a medical scan revealed a growth on Jim's left kidney. Additional tests confirmed the growth to be cancerous and a decision was made to remove the organ. Following surgery, Jim's daily activities were heavily restricted and he knew planting season would be difficult without help. The Bahms submitted an application to Farm Rescue and that help was soon on the way. Volunteers and equipment arrived to seed the family's spring wheat crop, allowing Jim time to recover and prepare for the next season in the field.
