When it comes to phosphorus fertilizers, which is better: MAP or DAP? What’s important to know is they break down differently in soil.
MAP (monoammonium phosphate) is the older form of phosphate and is acidic in nature. Diammonium phosphate (DAP) breaks down to an alkaline form, which can affect the biological life of soil. Did you know better micronutrient uptake comes from MAP because some plants like the acidity?
Crops such as wheat and hay, which need more nitrogen, like DAP. Other crops, such as soybeans and alfalfa like MAP.
